It definitely mentions God but the book doesn't come off as religious, just spiritual. There's nothing not to like about this book. I saw the author on Home and Family this week. She said she wrote it after her son was born and realized children's books are few and far between that have children look like her son. I purchased this for my 3 and 5 yo granddaughters because they have friends that are black and the book is,about Psalm 118:24 i think. I will also get one for our kids room at church. I usually don't buy book on an author's self promotion but the journalist's poise and intellect is one I admired so I bought it "blind". It didn't seem to have a point or direction, my grandkids were bored with it and it sits on a shelf now.
