  • 3.0 out of 5 stars from J.S. Craig -- A dry and at times overly and unnecessary complex clinical guide to Autism. : My eldest son and I are both Autistic. So obviously, if I am recommended a book to read, or happen upon one on the subject of Autism, I am going to add it to my TBR list. And so, we come upon: "Autistic, Not Broken: Helping Your Autistic Child Have The Wonderful Life They Deserve" ( Reviewed in the United States on September 5, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from John R. Wallace -- Solid, well researched information : There are numerous things to take away from this book. The most important point is that there is no known cause of autism; it is not the parents’ fault or the environment, but there is a biological aspect to the spectrum. The author emphasizes that despite treatment and therapists, the greatest influence in the life of an autistic child is the parents, who need to detect the triad of symptoms as early as possible, even at a year and a half old. Communication, social wellbeing, and imagination are the three areas of concern. He also emphasizes that autism is a on a spectrum from low functioning to high functioning. I found his suggestions in the latter part of the book aimed at the moderate to high functioning autistic child. Like a chronic disease, there is no cure; there is only care and treatment. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Zyna K. -- Great guide : The book includes Right education: You cannot help your children with ASD when you are not knowledgeable about the condition itself. This book will build a foundation about the facts that are relevant to autism. Tips and strategies: The author ensured a realistic approach so that every tip and trick mentioned in the book can work well in real-life scenarios. Strategies are carefully planned for the long-term assistance of your child with Autism. Activities: Autistic children show great interest in playful activities. These science-backed but fun-filled activities can promote the social, communicative, and imaginative development of your autistic child. ( Reviewed in the United States on September 4, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Ola -- A Huge Support for the Autistic Child's Family and Caregiver : Reading this book brought to mind a particular child I cared for in the past. As I read I was unfolding secrets to what could have been what I considered problems with the child. Also, the information in the book provided answers to why and how the child in question got to that point. I recommend this book for not only a family that that has an autistic child but also for caregivers because it gives them insight into what could be the issue with a child and possible means to handle the situation. • 4.0 out of 5 stars from Amazon Lover -- Good. Needs more Empathy : While the book contains good advice from an experienced person that has worked with autistic children, it is a tough read. The author comes off a bit too strong and less empathetic than I expected the book to be. ( Reviewed in the United States on September 5, 2021 )
